The Secret Spring of Success

When I was in grade school, I belonged to the Girl Scouts. One of the hallmarks of that organization is that troops, as a group or sometimes as individuals, take on a variety of tasks and, upon successful completion, earn badges for their sashes. Each badge was sewn onto my sash by my mother until I earned the sewing badge and had to sew them on myself.

The sash, covered with badges, became a symbol of effort, expertise, and confidence among the Scouts. We were all pretty proud of our sashes, and I still had mine when my own girls started Daisy Scouts. I was delighted to pass it along to them.

As adults, we don't often pause to note or celebrate our successes. After a small achievement, we simply move on with our day. Sometimes, after a great deal of effort, we are awarded a plaque, trophy, or engraved keepsake to display—symbols of challenges overcome. These awards may be cherished for a time, but eventually they are dusted, tucked away, and replaced by the next challenge waiting to be faced.

More often than not, we complete those new challenges and continue moving forward. Sometimes we are stumped and need to stop and learn something new. Yet we rarely stop to consider the many challenges we have already mastered. Each new event in your life is connected to those that came before it. Every task gives you an opportunity to use and build upon skills learned through previous experiences.

I remember when I first completed my Elemental Space Clearing Certification. I was nervous about embarking on a new career, and at the same time, my husband was beginning a new career in real estate. As a new agent, he was often assigned properties and clients that other agents had passed over.

One particular house came to him after it had been on the market for two years. The owners had changed agents every six months in pursuit of a sale. He wanted to sell it, but his colleagues warned him that it would likely be difficult and that he would probably lose any money he invested in marketing. They expected the owners to remove the listing after six months and move on to yet another agent.

For two months, he worked hard to sell the property, but not a single buyer came to view it. I suggested that he ask the owners for permission for me to perform a Space Clearing. He was hesitant to bring it up with his clients, but after four months, he finally did. They agreed, and I was given permission to clear the property—with only six weeks remaining on the listing.

I performed a beautiful clearing for the home. Within ten days, the house was under contract, and the sale was completed within a month.

That experience began a streak of difficult properties selling successfully. My husband's reputation as an effective real estate agent grew, and my reputation as a Space Clearing Professional grew as well.

That was nearly ten years ago, and we still work together today. Sometimes we collaborate on selling properties, and other times he gifts a Space Clearing to clients purchasing a new home. It has been a joyful partnership for both of us.

This month we are contemplating the Secret Spring – Success card from Denise Linn's Sacred Forest Oracle deck. Water is life, and if you know where a secret spring can be found, your success is assured. But success also magnetizes more success.

To invite greater success into your life, consider taking pen to paper each day and writing down a success you've experienced. It might be something small: "I got the chili stain out of my white blouse!" Or it might be something significant: "I earned my Soul Coaching Certification!"

Try this practice for the entire month. Review your list or journal entries each week and notice how success begins to grow in your awareness. You may discover just how accomplished, capable, and resilient you truly are.
